11/03/2015 Latest TTS Project!

CereProc is delighted to announce our latest project: a Gaelic text to speech voice for the Scottish public sector, in collaboration with Call Scotland.

CALL (Communication, Access, Literacy and Learning) Scotland is an organisation funded by the Scottish Government. Their aim is to provide assistive technology to people with disabilities and special needs. Text to speech is one such technology - it has the power to enhance the learning process for students, especially for those with visual impairments or dyslexia.

CereProc first worked with CALL in 2008, to produce the first female Scottish TTS voice, Heather, which was made available to state schools throughout Scotland for free. We added a counterpart male voice, Stuart, in 2011.

Following the success of Heather and Stuart, Call Scotland and CereProc have teamed up again to produce a Scottish Gaelic text-to-speech voice, which will be available free of charge to the public sector. The voice is set to be released in time for the start of the 2015 -16 academic year.
