Sometimes, we all need a little light reading to explore further than current projects demand. In this series of blogs - our Wonder Emporium - we'll share some of the more unusual aspects of text-to-speech that are close to CereProc's heart. Because for us, it isn't what speech technology does today, it's what it will be doing tomorrow that excites our team.

Showcasing some of the best and most innovative Scottish companies, and looking into the work being done throughout the country, last night's episode of tech TV heavyweight The Gadget Show was fantastic, and of course we're delighted to have been involved, and have our speech synthesis technology featured during the 'tech travel' segment presented by hosts Pollyanna Woodward and Jason Bradbury.

CereProc is proud to be part of an innovative new exhibition featuring text-to-speech technology, Articulate: The Art and Science of Synthetic Speech. The free interactive road-show, put together by the Creative Speech Technology Network (CreST) starts on Monday December 3rd 2012 in York. It will be touring Yorkshire and Humberside until January 26th 2013.

Text-to-speech provider CereProc has launched CereVoice 3.0.4, the updated version of its core speech synthesis engine, offering users additional platform compatibility and improved performance.

The updated version features voices that are even more natural and expressive, and produce speech output in more languages and accents than ever before, while the introduction of support for the Raspberry Pi extends CereProc's technology to reach additional mobile device users.

A select team of text to speech experts is leaving from CereProc HQ in Edinburgh to travel to the United States for this year's Interspeech 2012 event. Taking place in Portland, Oregon, the conference - attended by a prestigious audience of speech technology experts, scientists and industry engineers - will undoubtedly produce some very interesting discussions based on the key findings delivered by experts working and researching within the speech synthesis industry.
