08/06/2012 - Animated film creation revolutionised by toolkit developed by Fanchinima AB, CereProc, and KTH collaboration

Announcing the forthcoming launch of innovative video creation toolkit to public beta stage, Fanchinima AB - in collaboration with text to speech (TTS) company CereProc, and KTH Centre for Speech Technology - aims to revolutionise advanced animated film making by blending expertise, respective software and text to speech technologies.

An online film production software studio where users can create their own creative animated films, Fanchinima is cooperating with KTH Centre for Speech Technology and CereProc to drive the film technology evolution toward making it possible to create high quality and realistic films using a complex yet intuitive tool kit.

In conjunction with Fanchinima opening the service up to more users as it moves to public beta stage, the first creative films developed using the animated film making toolkit will be presented during the Short Film Festival at the Twific Meetup event - an event for Twilight fans created by fans - in Las Vegas tomorrow, June 9, 2012.

Aiming to capture emotions depicted within scripts, the synergy between the leading experts has facilitated avatars' characters and movements to include lip movements, voices and facial expressions to create truly compelling animated films.

Sharing the results of complex research to explore auto-generated characteristic movements that include non-verbal communication such as oral and facial movements synchronized with speech, KTH Centre for Speech Technology's expertise has added great value to the collaboration in its aim to develop an approach that best communicates and expresses feelings and attitudes held in scripts.

Recognising the company's excellence for developing cost effective synthetic voices that are full of emotion, Fanchinima's toolkit utilises market leader CereProc's text-to-speech engine - CereVoice - within its text-to-speech (TTS) functionality to give virtual actors realistic voices filled with expression and natural human character.

"We are extremely pleased with the fast pace at which this project has run. Opening up further to the digital arts and animation markets, it's fantastic to see text to speech technology being used in such a creative and contemporary way. Our praise goes out to the teams at Fanchinima and KTH alike for making this an exciting and effective partnership," explained Paul Welham, CEO at CereProc.

Steering development toward improving the accessibility to best of breed filmmaking tools, the collaboration between CereProc, Fanchinima and KTH Centre for Speech Technology establishes a complete process - from pre production scenography and script-writing to animation and post production editing - for all users seeking to create advanced and compelling animated movies.

"The Twific Meetup in Las Vegas is set to be a fantastic stage to showcase the software toolkit and we'll be watching eagerly to see how fans and animated film makers will be using it in the coming months. I'm certain we'll be blown away by some fantastically creative animation," added Welham.

Producing industry quality animated film by following Fanchinima's intuitive step by step process, users with no previous film production knowledge are able to create animated movies online, opening up the market to a wider range of creative stories interpreted for animated film and enhancing the quality of each offering.
